The PEMM (The Process and Environmental Monitoring Methods)Working Group is a collaboration of members from industry and instrument manufacturers that work together to support the use and acceptance of bio-fluorescent particle counting (BFPC) modern microbial methods within the pharmaceutical, personal care and food and beverage industries. The group works to support technology users and adoption through publications, presentations, training and a monthly forum for industry discussion.
The PEMM group met with the FDA Emerging Technology Team in 2020 to discuss BFPC technology. A summary of the meeting including submitted questions and answers, and the Process and Environmental Monitoring Methods Working Group’s understanding of the FDA Emerging Technology Team’s points made was published in the PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology in 2021. Here is a link to PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology article entitled A Discussion on Bio-Fluorescent Particle Counters: Summary of the Process and Environmental Monitoring Methods Working Group Meeting with the FDA Emerging Technology Team and a summary article published outside of the PEMM group in American Pharmaceutical Review.
